A teacher once asked us to write a paper on who I was. She was trying to iniciate a discussion about life and being and how the things we are, are not who we are. I was annoyed by this so I just said that, at the moment, I couldn’t say who I was. I still can’t say who I am, but I can say what I like and what I’m like, in hopes that this will satisfy your couriosity over who I am.

At this time (July 2006), I am 18 years old and about to begin my freshman year at college. I was born and raised in Mexico, but if you looked at me, you would never guess it. I’ve been mistaken for American so many times I’ve stopped counting. I will be studying at York University in Toronto. Studying what? Difficult to say…

I have an immense passion for movies. I don’t have a favorite movie of all time, but I do have a list of my 14 favorite movies. My favorite director is Pedro Almodóvar, followed by Spike Jonze and Curtis Hanson. My favorite screenwriter is, hands down, Charlie Kaufman. Favorite actress? Kate Winslet, followed by Frances McDormand. Favorite actor? Jury’s still out on that one…

I also love the other arts: books, music, paintings… Favorite authors? Michael Cunningham and David Sedaris. Favorite painter? Georges Seurat. I have many favorites in music, although Franz Ferdinand and Beck are the most notable. I also admit to experiencing a pseudo-orgasmic sensation everytime I hear Brandon Flower singing his sex-crazed lyrics…

On the PopCult front, my favorite comedian is Ellen DeGeneres, followed by Jon Stewart. My favorite TV shows are Sex & the City (cancelled), Everwood (cancelled), Arrested Development (cancelled) and Veronica Mars (still alive). My favorite blog is Josh & Josh are Rich and Famous, followed by The PEN15 Club. My favorite superhero is Batman. I don’t make it a habit of watching sports, unless the players have recently appeared in a Calvin Klein or D&G ad…

My greatest hobby is enjoying the things I like…
